New Cruise Ship Norwegian Pearl Being Readied for Sea Trials

The cruise ship Norwegian Pearl, Norwegian Cruise Line's newest and sister ship to Norwegian Jewel, has left its covered building dock in Papenburg, Germany and is now berthed at an outfitting pier where it is being readied for sea trials.

The 93,500-ton ship is scheduled to transit the Ems River to Eemshaven, Netherlands on November 4th for sea trials. On December 2nd, it will sail from Southampton, England to Miami.

Following her formal two-day inaugural sailing from Miami on Dec.16, 2006, Norwegian Pearl will sail nine-day Southern Caribbean and five-day Western Caribbean itineraries through April 2007.

She will then reposition to sail seven-day Alaska itineraries roundtrip from Seattle for the summer before returning to Miami in September for the remainder of 2007.

Norwegian Pearl will accommodate 2,400 guests, and will feature all the elements of NCL’s Freestyle Cruising including 10 restaurants, 11 bars and lounges, two swimming pools, a casino, and more.

Norwegian Pearl will also feature a cruise-ship industry first—a full-size, four-lane, ten-pin bowling alley -- as well as the first rock-climbing wall on an NCL ship.
